The Art of Sewing
from basic to couture
Hi, I’m Alena Malik, designer and founder of Al`Malik Boutique. I created these sewing classes to share my experience in a clear and structured way, so you don’t just repeat steps, but truly understand the process. Even if you are a complete beginner, you can start from zero and feel confident. The classes are built step by step, so everything is simple, logical, and easy to follow. You will learn how sewing works as a system — from basic skills to garment construction and fit. I also want to note that I teach using a European pattern-making approach based on the metric system, which focuses on precision, structure, and a clear drafting method. This allows you to understand how garments are built and adapt patterns to different figures, instead of relying on ready-made patterns. As you progress, you will develop a strong understanding of construction, fit, and design. Right now there are three courses, but the school will continue to grow. New programs will be added, including corsetry, hand embellishment, and more advanced techniques. This is just the beginning, and you can grow step by step — from your first project to creating your own couture pieces.
How We Will Work
As we are just starting to launch these classes and plan to run them in several cities, including Sacramento, Los Angeles, and Dallas, it is important for us to understand where the first groups will form. For this reason, we created a waiting list below, where you can sign up after reviewing the course descriptions. When you join, please include your city, as this helps us organize groups and choose the most convenient location. Each group will be small, no more than 5-6 students, so I can give personal attention to each of you. Once we see that a group is forming in a specific city, we will reach out to confirm the schedule, location, and starting dates based on what works best for everyone. Joining the waiting list does not require any payment, it simply allows us to understand interest and plan the classes properly.
